Your Metal Braces Alternative
Learn About Damon Braces
Unlike traditional braces that use elastic ties, Damon System braces have a sliding door mechanism to hold the archwire in place.
This mechanism makes a tunnel to hold the archwire while allowing it to slide freely.
The Latest Damon System Technology
Dunn Orthodontics continues to offer our patients the most up-to-date advances in orthodontic treatment. As such, we offer Damon brackets: the most state-of-the-art, self-ligating bracket system currently available.
The current generation Damon bracket embodies the most up-to-date improvements to the innovative Damon bracket system. It features braces constructed completely of high-grade stainless steel, making these braces durable and extremely strong.
The latest Damon brackets also have more rounded corners and are smoother to help increase comfort for our patients. While still bulky compared to modern traditional braces, they appear less visible than older Damon brackets.
Are There Benefits to Damon Braces?
Probably not. It was previously thought that the free sliding of the Damon braces helped decrease treatment time and increase patient comfort. These claims do not appear to be true. The good news, however, is that Damon braces appear to work just as well modern traditional braces.
Some people have concerns about oral hygiene because Damon System braces are bulkier than more modern braces. The truth is maintaining proper oral hygiene is achievable with both Damon braces and traditional braces. Regular brushing, flossing, and routine dental cleanings are essential regardless of the type of braces used.
