Why an Orthodontist in Scottsdale? Orthodontist vs. Dentist

An orthodontist is a dentist, but a dentist is not an Orthodontist. All orthodontists are dentists first, even though not every dentist is qualified to be an orthodontist. As an orthodontist, Dr. Matthew Dunn and Dr. Courtney Dunn have spent years studying nothing but how and why to move teeth. This includes what to do, how to plan, and how to execute the appropriate treatment plan. All orthodontists, including Dr. Matthew Dunn and Dr. Courtney Dunn, have to continue their formal education for 3 additional years before receiving their license and certification.

Why does it matter if you see your Scottsdale Orthodontists?

Specialists receive additional training to give them the skills needed to deal with more complex orthodontic problems. Dentists do, however, receive basic orthodontic training which allows them to perform root canals, extract wisdom teeth, and treat young children who do not need to see an orthodontist yet.

Your Scottsdale orthodontist may improve your treatment experience in the following ways:

  • Providing more treatment options, like braces in Scottsdale AZ.
  • Personal experience treating multiple cases that share your unique concern and anatomical characteristics.
  • More efficient treatment and visits, because it is the office’s focus area of care.
  • Knowing that you’ll receive the best possible outcome on your treatment plan, especially if you have severe bite discrepancies that need to be addressed.
  • Being seen quickly, as a family dentist will be focused on longer patient cases or emergencies throughout the day.

Some individuals may think it’s easier to have their orthodontic work completed by their dentist, but convenience shouldn’t be a problem. You will only be stopping by your Scottsdale orthodontists' offices every six to eight weeks.

Dunn Orthodontics is proud to provide affordable treatment in the Scottsdale area, and we don’t want price to ever be an obstacle. That’s why we accept most major insurance providers and offer payment plans.

Testimonials from Scottsdale orthodontist patients

Dr. Dunn and his wife are very helpful and knowledgeable about the whole Invisalign process, when I went in I wasn't sure if I wanted them or not but luckily my case wasn't too severe and I would only need them for 6 months. On my first initial visit, they were able to set me up with an affordable payment plan, take scans of my teeth, and schedule an appointment to get my aligners and hooks put in. Fast forward to 6 months later and my teeth look better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you Dunn Orthodontics!

My 2 teenage kids were asking for braces so like any parent paying for this costly procedures i shopped around and found Risas Dental went there The second I walked in they grabbed my 2 kids and started working on them without my permission then sat me down and started slamming me with numbers it truly felt like i was at a shady car dealership the experience was horrible So i left and Found Dunn Orthodontics and the experience has been great and the payment for 2 kids 200.00 a month for both So I am very pleased. One kid braces are already off and the second one soon

My son David got his braces done at Dunn Orthodontics. Dr. Dunn is the best orthodontist in Scottsdale, AZ and their staff is wonderful. Never a bad experience with any of them. They were always on time for each appointment and the appointments went quick. David got his braces taken off today, just a couple months shy of 2 years. They are absolutely gorgeous. David can't stop smiling. Thank you Dunn!
